Have you ever heard of jackfruit?
Known as the world’s largest fruit, a single jackfruit can weigh anywhere from 10 to 50 kg!
It grows in South Asia and Africa, and gorillas even shake the trees to get this tasty treat.
Its sweet, rich flavor with a unique twist makes it truly one-of-a-kind.
I first discovered jackfruit through dried jackfruit recommended by a friend, and I’ve been a fan ever since.
But until recently, I had never seen a whole jackfruit in person.
Recently, I came across a whole jackfruit at a farmers’ market in Atlanta!!
I did a double-take at its enormous size and thought, “How on earth would I even carry this home?”
In the end, it was just too heavy to buy.
Interestingly, when cooked, jackfruit becomes tender and slightly nutty, kind of like a chestnut, making it perfect for savory dishes.
I can’t wait to try it someday!
If you happen to come across one, take a look—you’ll be surprised by how big it is.
