Blog #14 Savannah, Georgia

Savannah, located in the southeastern state of Georgia, is often seen as a tourist destination, but in reality it also plays an important role as one of the key logistics hubs on the U.S. East Coast.

Containers from all over the world arrive at the Port of Savannah, where they are collected before being distributed across the United States by truck and rail.
Because of this, the port functions as something like a “gateway to the East Coast,” connecting international trade with the domestic U.S. network.

At the same time, the city is also known for being a filming location.
In particular, the bench scenes from Forrest Gump were filmed in Chippewa Square in Savannah, which has made the location well known among visitors.

Savannah is also a city with a long history, and its historic buildings and streets still remain today, giving the entire city a sense of layered time.

One place that left a strong impression on me was Leopold’s Ice Cream, a long-established shop founded in 1919.
It is still loved by both locals and visitors, and the ice cream itself was very enjoyable.

Savannah felt like a place where the flow of logistics, scenes from films, and everyday life quietly coexist within the same city.
