I spent the weekend recently at Amicalola Falls.
The name "Amicalola" comes from the Cherokee language, spoken by the Native American tribe that historically lived in the southeastern United States, and it means "tumbling water." True to its name, the waterfall’s power was incredible.
The trail from the bottom to the top of the falls is about 0.9 miles (1.4 km). It’s an easy hike, and along the way, I stopped to take photos and enjoy the flowing water—it didn’t take long to reach the top.
Surrounded by forest and the falls, it’s cool and refreshing, making it a great spot to escape the summer heat.
